ECER 2021

ECER – European Conference on Educational Robotics

ECER is an annual robotics conference. A large part of the conference consists of a robotics tournament for students, where they compete with their robots as a team for every point. This year, however, the conference will not be held as usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the robotics tournament will be held online, giving everyone the opportunity to experience something new and exciting.

So what are you waiting for? Register from March 15 and win great prizes!

Simulation Tasks

Tasks in a simulation. Suitable for all without existing robotics equipment.

Tinker with robots

Tinker with your robotics kit and solve the tasks.

Entry at any time

Between March and June it is possible to join at any time. New tasks come online every month.

Win great prizes

For the best and most motivated among you, there are also great prizes to be won!

What you need to know

ECER 2021 will take place this time from March to June. New task packages will be published monthly, for which there will be 6 weeks to work on them. Entry is therefore possible at any time.

The competition is divided into two categories, on the one hand the Open section, which is suitable for beginner groups and families and on the other hand the High School section, which is limited to high school students who are looking for a bigger challenge.

There are basically two types of tasks offered. On the one hand, pure simulation tasks in an online simulator, for which only a computer is required, and on the other hand, tasks that are to be implemented with physical robot kits.

Further questions?

Who can participate?

You can participate in two categories:

OPEN: here you can participate with your family, friends, schoolmates, etc. without any age restriction.

HIGHSCHOOL: here high school students (13 – 19) can participate in groups of 3-7 persons.

More detailed information about the conditions of participation can be found here.

What do I need to participate?

Find some friends, schoolmates, your family etc. and form a team.

For all tasks you need a computer, for some also a robot set (which parts you use is up to you) and things you have at home / at school. Which materials you need for the respective task is noted directly in the tasks.

Fun with tinkering and solving tasks

Can I start the tournament after March?

Yes, of course! You can do as many tasks as you like. For all your tasks submitted on time, you will receive points from our expert jury. The more points you have at the end of the tournament, the more likely you will win one of our prizes.

Can I only do some of the tasks?

Yes, of course! You can do as many tasks as you like. For all your tasks submitted on time, you will receive points from our expert jury. The more points you have at the end of the tournament, the more likely you will win one of our prizes.

How do I get extra points?

The ECER online tournament is organized within the framework of the EU project RoboCoop Interreg SK-AT. Our Slovak partners also offer an online tournament. If you solve tasks there, you can also get additional points for the ECER online tournament. You can find the tasks of our Slovakian partner under

How long does the tournament last?

The tournament will start on March 15, 2021 and will end with a final event at the end of June. You can see the exact schedule here.

Can I submit tasks later?

In order for your task to be awarded points for the tournament, it is important that they are submitted on time. You can find the deadlines for the respective tasks directly at the corresponding tasks. If you just want to show us what you’ve done, you can of course contact us after the deadline – but unfortunately we can’t give you any points for it. Have a look at the tasks, maybe there are still tasks that interest you and bring you points for the tournament.

What are the costs?

There are no participation fees! The tournament is financed by Interreg SK-AT. You can participate with the materials you already have at home like LEGO, Arduino etc. or even our Hedgehog controller or buy some. We can give you some tips if you want to buy new equipment. For some of our tasks you don’t need anything but a computer! We have a few rental sets that we can partially provide for tasks. If you are interested or need more information, please contact us at

Can you win something?

Yes! The best teams in the two categories will receive great non-cash prizes.
